Champion commercial at Edenbridge and Oxted Show

Having not been able to make Edenbridge and Oxted show last year, it was great to head down to Surrey for this year. We took the pedigrees and commercials, but this time fared better with the commercial team. Our Limousin cross heifer Ooh Laa Laa took a first prize in her heifer class under judge Simon David, Somerset, and then went on to take the female and overall championship.

Our purebred Limousin steer Destroyer won his class and was overall male champion, while our other Limousin cross steer Buck Off was third in his class.

In the pedigree section we won a first place with Wilodge Diamante under judge George Smith, while Wilodge Dublin Flyer also won his class and stood reserve male champion.

Champion and reserve at Burwarton for Wilodge Limousins

Leading the way for us at Burwarton Show was Wilodge Diamante (daughter of Wilodge Vantastic) who won her class and took the female and overall breed championship. She also teamed up with Wilodge Dallaglio (by Vantastic) to win the pairs competition as well as be part of the interbreed group of four championship.

Dallaglio himself won his class and stood overall reserve champion behind Diamante. Wilodge Dublin Flyer (by Millbrook Tanko) stood second to Dallaglio in the junior bull class and was also part of the interbreed group of four championship.

In the commercial classes, Ooh Laa Laa won her class and then went on to stand overall commercial champion under judge Matthew Smith, while Buck Off also won his class and stood reserve overall champion.

Wilodge Diamante snapping at the heels of overall interbreed champion

The Royal Welsh Show this year was a fantastic show and has been the highlight of the year for us. Wilodge Diamante won her class and was placed junior female champion as well as overall junior champion. She was then tapped out as reserve female champion and followed the overall Limousin champion to take the reserve overall championship. She also joined the breed champion to make up part of the Group of Five where the Limousins were placed interbreed champions.

Wilodge Dallaglio made a return to the show circuit and won his class as well as junior male championship, overall male champion and reserve overall junior champion behind Diamante. He teamed up with her again to win the pairs competition and took the RWAS/Agri Lloyd Elite junior bull championship.

Our Limousin cross steer won his class in the commercial section.

Wilodge Diamante reserve female champion at Great Yorkshire Show

Diamante had yet another successful show standing second in her class she was placed reserve junior female champion and also went on to take the reserve female championship. She was also part of the winning junior interbreed team as well as a member of the reserve senior interbreed team.

Dublin Flyer won his class and went on to be reserve junior male champion.

Competition was extremely fierce in the commercial section and we were incredibly pleased to stand 2nd with Buck Off under judge Keith Harryman, who then tapped him out to be reserve commercial steer champion.

Dublin Flyer male champion at Royal Show

This year’s Royal Show saw Wilodge pick up a first prize in the young bull class with Dublin Flyer who then went on to take the male championship as well as the junior male and reserve overall Limousin junior championship. He was also best bull bred by exhibitor.

In the female section, Wilodge Diamante won her class and was then reserve junior female champion behind the overall champion of the show.

Wilodge dominate Limousin classes at East of England Show

Wilodge Diamante was yet again on winning form at this year’s East of England Show under stand-in judge David Cormack who had to step in last minute to replace Hazel Fotheringham whose car unfortunately broke down on route to the show.

Diamante won her class, was junior female champion, overall junior Limousin champion and then breed champion. She then went on to be placed junior interbreed champion under David Barker and teamed up with Dublin Flyer to win the pairs competition.

Dublin flyer also won his class and was then placed male champion as well as junior male champion. He stood reserve for overall junior champion behind Diamante and then stood reserve overall champion behind her again.

Considering June is a fairly early start to the commercial show season, we were exceptionally pleased with how our stock performed here. Ooh Laa Laa won her class and also teamed up with Buck Off to win the pairs, while Buck Off himself won his class, took the overall steer championship and then stood overall reserve commercial champion under judge Harry Emslie. This was particularly pleasing as it was Buck Off’s first outing of the year.

Diamante reserve interbreed at Bath and West Show

We had a fantastic show at Bath and West. Wilodge Diamante won her class and then went on to take the female championship and then the overall Limousin championship. In the interbreed championship we were fortunate to go one better and stand reserve overall interbreed and reserve overall exhibitor bred champion.

Our yearling bull Wilodge Dublin Flyer by Millbrook Tanko also won his class and then went on take the reserve male championship. He also stood Beef Breeder champion.

In the calf class Wilodge Dallaglio won his class and was then placed champion calf.

In the commercial classes we stood second with ooh Laa Laa and then went on to take the reserve overall commercial championship under judge Jason Wareham.

Wilodge win the pedigree section at Beef Expo

Along with our commercial show cattle we took two pedigree cattle to the Beef Expo event held at The Three Counties showground in Malvern. Our yearling heifer Wilodge diamante by Wilodge Vantastic out of Wilodge Amethyst won her class and then went on to take the female pedigree championship followed by the overall pedigree championship.

Following close behind her was our yearling bull Wilodge Dallaglio, again by Vantastic and out of Sarkley Bellola. He won his class and then took the male championship before standing reserve overall to Diamante.

Wilodge Cerberus tops Carlisle trade at 50,000 gns

It’s not very often we’re lost for words, but this Carlisle Limousin sale was a first for many things. Having taken the overall championship with Wilodge Cerberus, a bull we’ve admired strongly at home from a young age,  he then went on to lead the day’s trade at 50,000gns (a personal best for Wilodge) selling to Alan Jenkinson for his Whinfell Park herd.

Cerberus is by Wilodge Tonka (Oxygene out of Wilodge Meclaire) and is out of Wilodge Priceless (Broadmeadows Cannon out of Wilodge little Gem).
